NBA 2K27 Dunks On Resident Evil Requiem To Become The US’s Best-Selling Game Of 2026

NBA 2K27 has claimed the title of best-selling game of 2026 in the United States year-to-date, dethroning Resident Evil Requiem from its months-long reign at the top. The sports title surpassed Capcom’s survival-horror-action game following its September release, when strong new releases dominated sales charts.

According to sales data from Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, eight of the top ten best-selling games in September were new releases, indicating robust consumer spending on fresh titles heading into the final quarter of 2026. NBA 2K27 ranked as the second-best-selling game in September, while Marvel’s Wolverine claimed the month’s top spot.

Resident Evil Requiem had maintained its position as the year’s best-selling title for an extended period following its earlier 2026 launch, when it quickly set new sales records for the franchise. However, the arrival of sports and superhero titles in September shifted the landscape, with NBA 2K27 ultimately securing the year-to-date crown by the time the month concluded.
