WoW: Forever Is Getting A New Server Option By Popular Demand
Blizzard Entertainment has announced a new role-playing player vs. player (RP-PvP) server ruleset for World of Warcraft: Forever, responding to community demand. The new server option will open for name reservations on October 27, 2026, and joins three existing rulesets: standard Player vs. Environment (PvE), Player vs. Player (PvP), and pure roleplay servers.
The RP-PvP ruleset combines competitive PvP combat with immersive roleplay mechanics, creating a hybrid experience favored by segments of the WoW community. This server type is not new to the franchise—RP-PvP servers have been featured in previous iterations of World of Warcraft Classic and the original World of Warcraft game.
In addition to the RP-PvP announcement, Blizzard confirmed that another specialized server ruleset called Hardcore, which features permadeath mechanics where character death results in permanent loss, will launch before Spring 2027. This challenging mode is still in development and will be added after the game’s initial release.
The announcement demonstrates Blizzard’s commitment to offering diverse gameplay options at WoW: Forever’s launch, catering to different player preferences and playstyles. By including the RP-PvP option and planning additional rulesets, the company shows it is incorporating community feedback into shaping the game’s feature set and long-term development roadmap.
