Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s First DLC Is Out Now, Honors A Real Soldier Who Sustained Gruesome Injuries
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23, 2026, with its first downloadable content immediately available. The CODE Valor Pack introduces Kyle Carpenter, a real-life Medal of Honor recipient, as a playable character in the game.
Carpenter’s inclusion honors his extraordinary act of heroism during military service in Afghanistan. On November 21, 2010, while stationed in Marjah as a Marine, Carpenter threw himself in front of an active grenade to shield his fellow Marine, Nick Eufrazio, from the blast. His selfless action came at a severe personal cost—Carpenter lost consciousness for five weeks, had his teeth stripped away by the explosion, lost an eye, and sustained numerous other life-threatening injuries.
The CODE Valor Pack aligns with Call of Duty’s tradition of releasing charity-focused DLC at launch. All proceeds support the Call of Duty Endowment (CODE), a nonprofit organization established by Activision to help military veterans transition to civilian careers after leaving service. By featuring Carpenter’s story within the game, the DLC draws attention to both the charity’s mission and the real-world sacrifices made by service members. The initiative combines gaming entertainment with charitable impact, using the platform to support veteran employment while honoring individual acts of bravery.
