Mass Effect crossover items have seemingly been removed from Battlefield 6 following EA’s sudden closure of BioWare
Following EA’s sudden closure of BioWare studios, which resulted in 400 job losses and the cancellation of the next Mass Effect game, Electronic Arts has quietly removed all planned Mass Effect crossover cosmetics from Battlefield 6.
Players discovered Mass Effect-themed content in Battlefield 6’s files when Season 5 launched earlier this month. The cosmetic collection included N7-branded items, Normandy ship weapon charms, patches, sprays, and sci-fi themed weapon skins. The items had been added to the game’s cosmetic menus but remained locked and unavailable for purchase or unlock.
With N7 Day approaching on November 7—a fan-celebrated date honoring the Mass Effect franchise—many expected the cosmetics to become available around that time. However, EA has now removed the entire collection from Battlefield 6’s in-game store before players could ever access them.
The cancellation represents one of the immediate repercussions of BioWare’s closure, which EA announced this week. While Battlefield 6 itself remains unaffected by the studio shutdown, the decision to remove the Mass Effect collaboration underscores the broader impact of the studio’s closure on EA’s portfolio.
