The 25 Best Games on Xbox Game Pass in 2026
Game Pass’s value proposition has become increasingly uncertain following significant changes to Microsoft’s subscription service. After a substantial price increase and service restructuring in late 2025, Microsoft reduced prices but also began removing features from the platform, complicating the calculus for potential subscribers.
Despite these challenges, Game Pass continues to maintain an extensive library of titles across PC and Xbox platforms. The service experienced a particularly strong 2025, welcoming major additions such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Hollow Knight: Silksong, which helped bolster its appeal. However, 2026 has proven quieter in terms of new headline releases, even as the platform has added significant back-catalog titles to its offerings.
Polygon’s curated list of the 25 best games available on Game Pass across all service tiers aims to help players determine whether the subscription remains worthwhile. The value assessment ultimately depends on individual gaming preferences and usage patterns. While questions persist about whether recent price adjustments and feature removals justify the ongoing cost, the sheer breadth of the catalog—spanning multiple genres and including acclaimed releases—continues to provide options for diverse player bases seeking variety without purchasing individual titles.
