A cleaner, faster File Explorer context menu is rolling out to Windows 11 Insiders
Microsoft is rolling out a redesigned File Explorer context menu for Windows 11, now available to testers in the Windows Insiders Beta channel. The updated interface aims to streamline user experience by reducing visual clutter while maintaining quick access to frequently used actions.
The new context menu reorganizes options by moving less commonly used functions out of the primary view, helping users find what they need faster. This design approach prioritizes the most common file operations while keeping additional options accessible without overwhelming the interface with every possible action at once.
The redesign is part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to modernize Windows 11’s user experience and make file management feel more responsive and intuitive. By decluttering the right-click menu in File Explorer, the company hopes to create a faster, more personal navigation experience for users.
The feature is currently available to Windows Insiders in the Beta channel, meaning it’s being tested with a dedicated group of users before wider rollout. Microsoft also released four additional Windows 11 Insider builds alongside this context menu update. The company typically uses the Insider program to gather feedback and identify any issues before bringing new features to the general Windows 11 user base.
