Dead by Daylight Is Losing Another Horror Icon
Dead by Daylight is set to lose another licensed horror icon. In November, developer Behaviour Interactive will remove the Chucky Chapter from the multiplayer horror game, giving players a limited window to acquire Chucky-related content before it becomes unavailable.
This removal is part of a growing pattern of licensing expirations affecting Dead by Daylight. Previously, the game lost access to Hellraiser’s Pinhead in 2025 and removed Michael Myers from the game in early 2026. These departures are driven by licensing agreements that expire, forcing the developer to remove associated content.
Dead by Daylight has built much of its appeal around collaborations with major horror franchises, allowing players to experience beloved universes within the game. However, the temporary nature of these licensing deals means players cannot permanently own or access this content. The removal of multiple iconic horror characters highlights the challenges of maintaining licensed content in live-service games, where agreements between developers and intellectual property holders often have expiration dates.
The Chucky Chapter removal underscores the precarious nature of licensed gaming content and the importance for players to acquire desired items before they become unavailable.
