Star Wars Galaxies’ Restoration project just received another massive update, including a huge visual upgrade and an overhaul to the Wookiees’ home planet
Star Wars Galaxies Restoration, the community-driven revival of SOE’s 2003 MMO, has released a major new update titled “A New Dawn.” The patch represents a significant expansion of the project’s scope beyond simply maintaining the original game, delivering substantial improvements across multiple fronts.
The update includes a comprehensive visual upgrade to the entire game, alongside a major overhaul to Kashyyyk, the Wookiees’ home planet. Rather than focusing on a single headline feature like previous patches, “A New Dawn” incorporates various improvements suggested by members of the Restoration team. The team has also expanded significantly, welcoming 13 new members to the project.
Prior updates to the restoration have already introduced major content additions, including an entirely new Jedi system and a galactic civil war system, demonstrating how the community project has evolved far beyond its original goal of simply preserving the 2003 game. With continued growth and fresh development resources, Star Wars Galaxies Restoration continues to expand and enhance the classic MMO experience.
