Gen.G and Dplus KIA Qualify for Worlds 2026 Playoffs
Korean esports organizations Gen.G and Dplus KIA have become the first teams to qualify for the League of Legends World Championship 2026 Playoffs, both advancing with perfect 3-0 records through the Swiss Stage format.
Dplus KIA secured their playoff spot with a dominant 2-0 victory over Western team MKOI, demonstrating the exceptional teamfighting that has characterized their competitive season. As EWC 2026 champions, the team matured significantly during the LCK’s later stages, emerging as the league’s strongest performer heading into the World Championship.
Gen.G also advanced with an undefeated Swiss Stage record. Both teams’ strong performances leave Western representatives MKOI and LYON competing in Monday’s 2-1 gauntlet bracket for the remaining playoff berths.
Dplus KIA’s roster features veteran mid-laner Heo ‘ShowMaker’ Su, who previously captured a World Championship title in 2020. The team’s combination of dominant teamfighting and strategic maturity positions them as formidable contenders for the 2026 championship title.
