Team Liquid Eliminate LPL Champions AL From LoL Worlds 2026
Team Liquid’s performance at League of Legends World Championship 2026 took a dramatic turn at the Swiss Stage, as the LCS champions secured a crucial 2-0 victory against China’s LPL champions Anyone’s Legend. With both teams facing elimination after losing their opening matches, the match served as a do-or-die encounter that determined who would advance toward the tournament’s Knockouts stage.
The sweep marked Team Liquid’s first victory of the tournament, breaking a frustrating 0-2 start for the North American representatives. Team Liquid had suffered an upset loss to CTBC Flying Oys earlier in the competition, disappointing the home crowd with an unexpectedly weak opening performance.
Anyone’s Legend’s path to this elimination match was similarly troubling. The LPL representatives fell to Karmine Corp on Day 1 of Worlds, followed by a shocking loss to fellow LPL team Top Esports, who were competing with a substitute player. The defeat to a lower-seeded team from their own region highlighted AL’s struggles to perform at the international stage.
The 2-0 sweep by Team Liquid demonstrated resilience from the North American team and kept their championship aspirations alive heading into the tournament’s later stages.
