Side expands presence in China, opens new studio and acquires art outsourcing provider Roboto Entertainment

Side, a gaming services provider, has expanded its presence in China through opening a new studio in Chengdu and acquiring Roboto Entertainment, an established art outsourcing company. Founded in 2014, Roboto Entertainment specializes in environment and world-building art services for AAA and AA games across console and mobile platforms, making it a valuable addition to Side’s operations.

Andrea Cordella, who founded Roboto Entertainment, has been appointed as Side’s global head of art and will serve as studio head for the new Chengdu office. The acquisition signals Side’s strategic commitment to building and strengthening art production capabilities in the Chinese market, while Cordella’s appointment demonstrates the company’s confidence in his leadership and artistic vision for driving its art direction globally.

The move represents a significant industry consolidation play, bringing an established outsourcing provider in-house to enhance Side’s service offerings and market position in one of gaming’s most important and fastest-growing regions.
