After a year of testing, one of Steam’s best features is finally out of beta, making it easier to find games you might actually like
Steam’s Personal Calendar feature, which has been in beta as a Steam Labs experiment for nearly a year, has officially launched to all users. The feature personalizes game discovery by highlighting upcoming releases and recent games tailored to each user’s interests and organizing them by release date.
The feature integrates into Steam’s store interface with its own dedicated section on the store homepage, where users can browse games the platform’s algorithm recommends based on their individual preferences. Because each user’s recommendations are algorithmic and personalized, the calendar displays different games for different players, creating a customized discovery experience.
This addition builds on Steam’s existing recommendation systems, which have long used player behavior and preferences to suggest games. Personal Calendar focuses specifically on upcoming and recently released titles, offering a time-aware discovery mechanism that helps players navigate Steam’s vast catalog more effectively. The feature addresses a common challenge in digital storefronts: helping users find games they’re genuinely interested in among thousands of options.
The extensive testing period—nearly a year as a Steam Labs experiment—gave Valve time to refine the feature based on user feedback before the official launch to the full user base.
