WoW: Forever Just Got Another Major Racial Ability Shakeup Before Launch

Blizzard is making a final balance pass on World of Warcraft: Forever’s racial abilities just before the game’s launch, addressing concerns raised during the beta period. The update affects multiple races including taurens, humans, orcs, dwarves, and Skyborne elves.

In development notes, community manager Kaivax outlined the changes, which prioritize “racial identity” to ensure each race has distinct advantages for different combat roles. Notably, taurens are receiving a significant buff with a 60% movement speed increase, effectively making them the most mobile race. This type of racial distinction is particularly important in WoW: Forever, designed as a throwback to an earlier era when racial abilities carried much more weight than in the modern game.

The community has been actively debating racial balance since Forever’s announcement, with players concerned about optimizing character choices for min-maxing. Some races synergize better with certain classes, and even small ability differences can meaningfully affect damage output and performance across hundreds of hours of gameplay.

These adjustments represent Blizzard’s final response to player feedback during testing, demonstrating a commitment to balance while preserving the meaningful racial distinctions that defined that classic era of the game.
