Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun studio announces major layoffs, then quickly deletes the announcement

Auroch Digital, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, announced that it would be conducting significant layoffs affecting approximately 25% of its staff. The announcement, posted to LinkedIn and Twitter, has since been deleted by the studio. The developer cited challenging market conditions affecting the video game industry as the primary reason for the restructuring and redundancy consultation process.

The timing of the announcement is particularly notable given Auroch Digital’s recent release schedule. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 launched just two weeks prior to the layoff announcement, and the studio has Warhammer Survivors scheduled to launch in November. Additionally, the studio released Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War earlier this year. Despite describing these recent releases as “creative successes,” the studio acknowledged that the same market conditions challenging many other developers have now affected them as well.

The decision to delete the initial announcement from social media adds an unusual dimension to the story. While layoffs have unfortunately become common in the video game industry, studios typically maintain communication about significant organizational changes rather than removing such announcements.
