Capcom Celebrates Record Sales in First Half of 2027 Fiscal Year, With Overwhelming Majority Being Digital Purchases

Capcom has reported record software unit sales for the first half of a fiscal year in its 47-year history, driven by strong performance across its 2026 releases and evergreen titles. The company’s three major 2026 releases—Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword—all received critical acclaim and continued to perform well during Q2 FY2026.

Sales figures demonstrate the strength of Capcom’s recent output: Resident Evil Requiem has achieved 8.51 million lifetime copies sold, Pragmata reached 2.73 million units, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword sold 1.78 million copies in its first month alone. Legacy titles including Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil 2, and RE7 Biohazard continue to drive substantial revenue.

The most striking trend from Capcom’s Q2 results is the overwhelming dominance of digital sales. Currently, 92.4% of the company’s video game sales are digital copies, with only 7.6% coming from physical boxed units. Capcom plans to push this ratio even higher, targeting 95% digital sales in the future.

The digital breakdown comprises PC and console digital sales across multiple platforms. This shift reflects broader industry trends toward digital distribution and indicates that physical media is becoming increasingly marginal for major publishers. Capcom’s success demonstrates how strong game quality and brand recognition can drive digital adoption while phasing out physical retail presence.
