Guide: Every Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy (Color) Game Ranked
Nintendo Switch Online continues to expand its library of classic Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. The platform, which first launched GB and GBC titles in February 2023, has grown steadily to accommodate a variety of titles spanning the handheld systems’ storied history.
In October 2026, Nintendo added three more games to the collection: Avenging Spirit, Mole Mania, and Pinball: Revenge of the ‘Gator. These additions come as part of the ongoing effort to preserve and make accessible a curated selection of the Game Boy and Game Boy Color’s extensive library.
Nintendo Life has compiled a comprehensive ranking guide of all Game Boy and Game Boy Color games currently available through Nintendo Switch Online, evaluating how well these classic titles hold up against modern gaming standards. The guide serves as a resource for both longtime Game Boy enthusiasts and newer players discovering these formative handheld games for the first time on the Switch platform.
The original Game Boy, released in 1989, became one of Nintendo’s most successful products, while the Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color later refined the experience. Many of the games from these systems continue to demonstrate excellent game design and remain engaging decades after their original release. Through Switch Online’s subscription service, these titles are now accessible to a much wider audience than would be possible through original hardware.
The expansion of the Game Boy and Game Boy Color library on Switch Online reflects Nintendo’s broader commitment to game preservation, making a significant portion of the handheld’s legacy available for modern audiences to experience on contemporary hardware.
