GTA 6 File Size Revealed, And It’s Massive
Grand Theft Auto 6’s file size has been revealed to be 210GB for the PlayStation 5 standard edition, making it one of the largest games ever created by file size alone. The massive installation requirement is nearly double that of Rockstar’s previous release, Red Dead Redemption II, and will require most players to delete existing content from their consoles to accommodate it.
While specifications for the $100 Ultimate Edition remain unannounced, the Xbox Series X|S version is expected to be approximately the same size. Preloading for the game will begin on November 12, well ahead of the game’s November digital-only release, giving players advance time to free up storage space.
The substantial file size reflects GTA 6’s expansive, modern-day reimagining of Vice City with photorealistic graphics, a dense open world filled with NPCs and interactive locations, and what Rockstar promises to be the franchise’s most comprehensive story yet. The scale of the installation underscores both the technical ambition of the project and the practical storage challenges players will face with the next-generation console release.
