Infinity Ward Taking Action Against DMZ Duplication Exploits

Modern Warfare 4, which launched officially last week, has been receiving positive reception, particularly for its DMZ mode. However, the mode has already been plagued by item duplication glitches that allow players to exploit the game’s systems.

In response to the discovery of these exploits, Infinity Ward announced on social media that it is taking enforcement action against accounts found exploiting the duplication glitches. The developer stated that “Item duplication glitches and the intentional abuse of exploits violate our Terms of Service” and confirmed that action is beginning against offending accounts.

While the initial enforcement announcement did not specify what punishments players would face, the action signals Infinity Ward’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the DMZ mode. The range of enforcement options typically available to game publishers includes account suspensions, temporary bans, or permanent bans, depending on the severity and frequency of the exploitation.

The rapid discovery and exploitation of these glitches highlight the ongoing challenge game developers face in securing their live-service games against unintended exploits. DMZ, which has been praised by the community since launch, will need continued monitoring and patching to prevent similar issues from undermining the player experience.
