LoL Patch 26.22 Preview: Mel Rework and Doran’s Items Changes
Riot Games has announced the details for League of Legends Patch 26.22, scheduled to release on November 4. The update features significant champion balance changes alongside the introduction of new K/DA Firestarter skins.
The patch includes a substantial midscope rework for Mel, the Noxian midlaner featured in Arcane. A key change removes the projectile reflect mechanic from Mel’s signature ability, Rebuttal, addressing a long-standing aspect of her kit that Riot Games had struggled to balance since her initial release.
In addition to the champion adjustments, the patch introduces changes to Doran’s items, which are fundamental early-game items that significantly impact champion itemization strategies in the laning phase.
Ahead of detailing the balance changes, lead gameplay designer Matt ‘Phroxzon’ Leung-Harrison took a moment to pay tribute to Lauri ‘Cyanide’ Happonen, the League of Legends Worlds 2011 champion, who passed away at the age of 31. Leung-Harrison praised Happonen’s exceptional skills and memorable personality, stating: “On top of being an incredible player, he was a super funny guy, and many of his quotes are legendary. He will be missed.”
