Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 review

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision Blizzard, launched on October 23, 2026, at $70 in North America and £60 in the UK. The game marks a return to quality for the franchise, arriving from the original creators of the Call of Duty series.

The game supports up to 60 players in its multiplayer mode and is not compatible with Steam Deck. The review was conducted on high-end PC hardware including an RTX 5090 graphics card and Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor with 64GB of RAM.

The release arrives after a period of declining critical reception for recent Call of Duty entries. Modern Warfare 3 was criticized for being rushed and expansion-sized rather than a full sequel. Black Ops 6 represented a step backward for the franchise’s multiplayer experience, while Black Ops 7 was perceived as superfluous and uninteresting. Modern Warfare 4 appears positioned to reverse this trend and restore player confidence in the long-running FPS franchise, which has faced fatigue from its annual release schedule.
