League of Legends Players Get Rustiest Blitzcrank Free If They Played Classic
Riot Games is offering League of Legends players a free “Rustiest Blitzcrank” cosmetic skin as a reward for participating in the game’s classic game mode before its permanent closure. Players who completed at least 20 online matches in League Classic before October 21 will automatically receive the skin at no cost.
This announcement comes alongside news that League Classic, a time-limited game mode, will be retired as a permanent offering next year, though Riot has indicated the mode may return for special events in the future. For players who missed the eligibility window or prefer to purchase the skin directly, Riot will make Rustiest Blitzcrank available in the Blue Essence Emporium for 150,000 Blue Essence—the in-game currency earned through play.
Rustiest Blitzcrank represents the third skin variant in the “Rusty Blitzcrank” series. The original Rusty Blitzcrank skin, released in November 2009 for 520 Riot Points, has become one of the rarest and most sought-after cosmetics in League of Legends history, having been removed from availability shortly after launch due to player feedback. The free skin offer incentivizes engagement with League Classic before its transition away from permanent rotation, a common strategy among live-service games to drive participation in limited-time content.
