Vote for the scariest game of all time: Round 1
PC Gamer is hosting a tournament-style voting competition to determine the scariest PC game of all time. The publication solicited nominations from readers and selected the top 16 submissions to seed a randomly-ordered bracket competition.
The tournament spans four rounds of head-to-head voting throughout the week. Round 1 narrows the field from 16 games to 8 finalists, followed by successive rounds on Wednesday (8 to 4), Thursday (semi-final with 4 to 2), and Friday (championship vote-off). The winner will be announced Saturday, timed to coincide with the Halloween weekend.
PC Gamer exercised editorial discretion in curating the final bracket from the submitted nominations. The competition uses a direct democracy format, allowing readers to vote on which games they find most genuinely frightening, with elimination-style brackets progressively narrowing the field. The initiative is presented by No More Room in Hell 2.
