Apple Announces Its First Touchscreen MacBook
Apple has introduced its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro, unveiled at its ‘Pro and Tell’ event in Cupertino. The new ‘MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display’ is available in 14- and 16-inch configurations, marking a significant design departure from the current generation that has remained largely unchanged since 2021.
The standout feature is the Tandem OLED touch display, which delivers up to 2,000 nits of brightness for exceptional visual clarity. The display covers both the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts, making it particularly appealing for creative professionals in photo and video editing.
The new touchscreen MacBook Pro models are powered by either the M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, positioning them as higher-end offerings compared to the recently updated standard M6 MacBook Pro 14. Users can configure the device with up to 128GB of RAM for demanding professional workflows.
This announcement represents a notable shift in Apple’s design philosophy for its premium laptop line, introducing touch input capabilities that many competing Windows laptops have offered for years. The move suggests Apple is responding to evolving user expectations while maintaining its focus on display quality and processing power for professional users.
