With The Division 3 Still in Active Development, Ubisoft Announces The Division Franchise Has Hit More Than 50 Million Players

Massive Entertainment has announced that The Division franchise has surpassed 50 million players across all its titles, marking a significant milestone as the series celebrates its tenth anniversary. The original Division launched in 2016 following a visually impressive reveal at E3 2013 that set high expectations for next-generation gaming. The franchise expanded with The Division 2 in 2019, though that installment’s sales fell short of Ubisoft’s projections.

The series has spawned several spinoffs over the years, with varying degrees of commercial success. Currently, the franchise remains active with development on The Division 3 underway. Additionally, Massive Entertainment continues to support The Division 2 with new content, including the Echoes of Central Park DLC announced at Gamescom earlier this year.

The 50 million player milestone demonstrates the enduring appeal of the looter-shooter genre despite The Division 2’s initial sales disappointment. With The Division 3 in active development, Ubisoft appears committed to revitalizing the franchise and attracting the next wave of players to the series.
