Resident Evil Lead Teases Series’ ‘Conclusion’ Coming In the Next 10 Years
Resident Evil is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and Capcom’s iconic survival horror franchise continues to thrive with recent releases like Resident Evil Requiem. However, the series’ executive producer Jun Takeuchi has hinted that the franchise’s narrative may be approaching its conclusion within the next decade.
In an interview with Yahoo Japan, Takeuchi revealed that Resident Evil Requiem marks the end of Capcom’s original ten-year strategic plan for the series, which was established during the development of the Resident Evil 2 remake. This roadmap has guided the franchise’s direction as both remakes of classic titles and new mainline entries have released in parallel.
Looking ahead, Takeuchi suggested the series may be entering a new phase following the completion of this plan. While specific details about the franchise’s future remain unclear, his comments indicate that Capcom is considering how to conclude the overarching narrative that has defined Resident Evil. The executive producer’s remarks suggest the company is planning for the franchise’s long-term evolution rather than indefinite continuation, with a potential narrative conclusion potentially arriving within the next ten years.
