Prepare for WoW: Forever with the new mockumentary series, “Planet Azeroth”

World of Warcraft: Forever, Blizzard Entertainment’s upcoming standalone Classic+ variant of the iconic MMORPG, launches November 4, 2026. In advance of the release, Blizzard is promoting the game through a new mockumentary video series called “Planet Azeroth,” hosted by British comedian Bill Bailey.

The series adopts the style and format of nature documentaries, particularly resembling BBC’s Planet Earth franchise, bringing a comedic twist to the exploration of Azeroth’s reimagined locales. The videos showcase the continent’s classic environments and iconic monsters as they appear in WoW: Forever, featuring the game’s new lighting systems and upgraded graphical effects.

The mockumentary approach represents an unconventional marketing strategy for a major game launch, blending educational presentation of the game world with entertainment value through Bailey’s narration and comedic framing. The campaign appears designed to generate interest among both longtime World of Warcraft players and newcomers by presenting the familiar world in a fresh, entertaining context.

World of Warcraft: Forever targets PC players when it launches next week.
