Modern Warfare 4’s newest map is actually older than the Gen Z & Alpha teens who will play it

Modern Warfare 4’s upcoming 6v6 multiplayer map, Backstab, is a remake of Burgundy from Call of Duty 2, originally released in 2005. The similarity was quickly identified by Reddit users, including wizward64, who provided visual comparisons confirming that Backstab faithfully recreates the earlier map design.

The new map arrives on November 6 and has become noteworthy for an amusing detail: the map itself is older than the Gen Z and Alpha teenagers who will be playing it. With over 20 years between the original 2005 design and the current remake, the map predates many of its players. This isn’t unusual within the Call of Duty franchise, which has released 23 mainline games and frequently recycles map designs from earlier titles, though the age of this particular source material has made it stand out to the community.
