Don’t Expect Destiny 3 At The Game Awards, Bungie Says
Bungie has clarified its plans for Destiny’s future, confirming that players should not expect a Destiny 3 announcement at The Game Awards. In a statement from Josh Deane, head of product, the studio emphasized it is still in the early stages of “incubating” future projects, with initial plans approved for scoping.
Instead of announcing a new game, Bungie is working to bring beloved content from the Destiny vault back to the current title. The studio is reworking fan-favorite campaigns including the Red War and Forsaken, reintroducing them to Destiny 2. However, this vault restoration effort will take considerable time, with the content not expected to arrive for quite some time.
Deane’s message was deliberate in tempering expectations: “Knowing we are early in incubating our future and actively working on projects to bridge us to that new home, don’t expect us to make a Destiny announcement at the TGAs this year, or to randomly drop a logo that sets the world on fire right away.” This appears to be an effort to manage speculation ahead of the industry’s biggest annual showcase.
The statement indicates Bungie has secured initial approval to begin scoping its next major project, but the company is taking a measured approach to development and communication. Rather than rushing to announce new titles, the studio is prioritizing bringing back content players cherished from earlier Destiny expansions while laying groundwork for what comes next.
