Exclusive: K/DA’s Sophie Powers Addresses Madison Beer Hate
Sophie Powers, a 22-year-old Canadian pop star, has joined K/DA, the virtual League of Legends-themed K-pop group, as the new voice of the character Evelynn, replacing Madison Beer. Powers appears on three of the four tracks on K/DA’s recently released Firestarter EP and will perform at the League of Legends World Championship 2026 finals opening ceremony, sharing the stage with artists Mimi Webb, Miyeon, and Soyeon from the group i-dle.
In an exclusive interview with Insider Gaming, Powers discussed her new role and the backlash she’s received from some Madison Beer fans following the casting change. Despite the criticism, Powers has been embracing her position within the virtual group and is excited about what K/DA fans can expect from the upcoming Worlds performance.
Powers has long been a dedicated fan of the League of Legends universe, particularly the Netflix animated series Arcane. She has created fan content for the show, including Jinx edits and cosplay, demonstrating her genuine connection to the IP. This passion for the League of Legends universe and Arcane’s storytelling made the K/DA role a particularly meaningful opportunity for her.
The appointment marks a significant moment for both Powers’ career and K/DA’s continued evolution as a virtual musical act. As the group continues to expand its roster of performers and create new music, Powers’ involvement represents the dynamic nature of virtual entertainment and the gaming industry’s growing influence on mainstream pop culture.
