There are currently “no other Assassin’s Creed remakes actively in development”, says Ubisoft
Ubisoft has clarified that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will remain the sole remake of the franchise for the foreseeable future. The publisher stated it currently has “no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development,” redirecting focus toward new entries in the series. Despite the critical and commercial success of Black Flag Resynced, which launched in July 2026, Ubisoft has determined that its teams should concentrate on developing original Assassin’s Creed titles with fresh settings and narratives.
The announcement comes via a statement from Jean Guesdon, head of content, addressing where the franchise is headed. Upcoming projects include Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Invictus, alongside unannounced titles. The publisher emphasized that while it learned “a tremendous amount” from Black Flag Resynced’s development, the franchise’s future lies in new experiences rather than revisiting past entries.
Ubisoft will continue supporting existing games in the interim—Black Flag Resynced will receive further updates, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting a New Game+ mode. The decision represents a strategic pivot, as CEO Yves Guillemot had previously suggested multiple remakes were planned as of 2024.
