Final Fantasy 14 reveals Evercold’s second new job and February release date, with pre-orders opening next week

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy 14: Evercold, the expansion featuring Patch 8.0, will launch on February 23, 2027, with early access beginning February 19, 2027. The delay from the originally planned January release window stems from quality assurance concerns, according to producer and director Naoki Yoshida, who explained the team wanted three additional weeks of development time.

Pre-orders for the expansion, including the Collector’s Box, will open on November 4, 2026. Early access will be available to those who pre-order. The announcement was made during the opening keynote of Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo.

Evercold will introduce two new jobs to the MMORPG. The previously announced Bastion, a greatshield-wielding tank, joins Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS that wields a crossbow and fights alongside a bird companion named Nephele. This follows earlier confirmations that the expansion will release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The announcement comes as Square Enix confirmed Final Fantasy 14 has surpassed 35 million registered accounts, reflecting the continued success of the longstanding MMORPG and its growing player base.
