Here’s one bit of good news for Mass Effect: modders are bringing the multiplayer mode to Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Mass Effect 3’s acclaimed multiplayer mode was notably absent from the 2021 Legendary Edition release, disappointing fans who cherished the co-op experience. Now, the ME3Tweaks modding team is addressing this gap with a comprehensive restoration effort that goes beyond a simple port.

After three years of development, the modders have created an extensive remaster of the multiplayer experience that not only restores the original content but enhances it significantly. New features include native support for modern controller input and HDR compatibility—bringing the multiplayer up to parity with the Legendary Edition’s single-player improvements.

The restored multiplayer also features an overhauled user interface, rebaked level lighting for visual improvements, upscaled and redrawn textures, and upgraded shaders. Additionally, the networking infrastructure has been improved with better server replication, ensuring a more stable online experience.

This community-driven restoration exemplifies game preservation efforts, allowing players to experience the complete Mass Effect 3 package as originally envisioned. The mod represents a significant achievement in preserving gaming features that publishers have overlooked, giving fans access to content that enhances the Legendary Edition experience.
