Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2 has much worse input lag than PS5

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 exhibits significantly higher input lag than its PlayStation 5 counterpart, potentially affecting competitive multiplayer performance for handheld players.

Digital Foundry’s technical analysis measured input latency at 81 milliseconds when the Switch 2 is docked and an average of 100 milliseconds in portable mode (ranging from 83ms to 125ms), compared to 49 milliseconds on PS5. The testing used wireless controllers on both systems—a Switch 2 Pro Controller and a DualSense—to ensure comparable conditions. The portable mode results were particularly noteworthy, with Digital Foundry characterizing the lag as “actually deleterious to performance,” highlighting that the responsiveness falls short of other console versions.

Beyond the input latency concerns, Digital Foundry’s evaluation of the Switch 2 port was largely positive, suggesting the technical compromises are limited to this specific area. The input lag disadvantage raises questions about the competitive viability of Modern Warfare 4 for Switch 2 players in online multiplayer, where even tens of milliseconds of additional latency can impact reaction time and gameplay responsiveness.
