Hoyoverse’s Cozy Sim Petit Planet Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027

HoYoverse, the developer behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, has announced that its upcoming cozy life simulator Petit Planet will come to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The free-to-play title launches on PC, iOS, and Android on December 4, 2026, making it available across multiple platforms before its console debut.

Petit Planet positions players as “Planet Tenders” managing the development of microplanets within the Starsea universe. The game features planet management mechanics, home decoration, mini-games, and opportunities to explore surrounding islands. According to HoYoverse, the title offers an “immersive virtual world experience” focused on cozy gameplay and creative freedom.

The announcement is particularly noteworthy because HoYoverse is notably skipping PlayStation 5—a platform the studio has consistently supported since launching Genshin Impact in 2020. By bringing Petit Planet to Switch 2 instead, HoYoverse is explicitly targeting the Animal Crossing audience, positioning this as direct competition to Nintendo’s dominant life simulation franchise.

The company revealed these details during a Pre-Launch Special Program livestream, which included gameplay footage demonstrating full docked and handheld mode support for the Switch 2 version. This hardware flexibility aligns with the cozy gaming aesthetic that has resonated with Switch players.
