CI Games secures $32 million loan to finish and self-publish Lords of the Fallen 2

CI Games has secured a €28.6 million (approximately $32 million USD) syndicated credit facility to complete and self-publish Lords of the Fallen II, strengthening the studio’s independence following the end of its PC publishing partnership with Epic Games earlier this year. The loan, arranged with Polish financial institutions Erste Bank Polska and Bank Ochrony Środowiska, will cover the soulslike sequel’s remaining production costs, a global marketing campaign, and its launch. Additionally, the facility will refinance all of the group’s existing bank debt. The Polish export credit agency KUKE is providing a guarantee on 80% of the facility, offering significant risk mitigation to lenders. The credit facility matures in August 2027, providing CI Games with a defined window to complete development and recoup the investment. The company expects to repay the loan primarily through sales of the original Lords of the Fallen, reflecting confidence in both the franchise and the upcoming sequel’s commercial potential. This financing arrangement highlights both the challenges and opportunities for mid-tier studios transitioning to independent publishing models.
