Dave Bautista Is Looking More Like Kratos After Packing On 20 Pounds Of Muscle

Dave Bautista is getting into shape for his upcoming role as Kratos in Amazon Prime Video’s live-action God of War adaptation. The 55-year-old actor revealed on social media that he has gained 20 pounds of muscle to prepare for the iconic character, bringing his current weight to 250 pounds. Filming for the series is set to resume soon, and this physical transformation represents his commitment to embodying the Norse god-slaying protagonist.

This isn’t Bautista’s first time bulking up for a demanding role—his wrestling background and years in Hollywood have made dramatic physical transformations part of his career. However, he had noticeably slimmed down in recent months before beginning his preparation for Kratos. The actor previously stated that he needed approximately two months to get into the necessary condition to authentically portray the character on screen.

While 250 pounds is an impressive physique, it’s notably lighter than some of Bautista’s previous peaks. During his WWE career under the ring name Batista, he reached his heaviest at around 370 pounds, and typically maintained approximately 290 pounds during his wrestling runs. His current weight reflects a leaner but still muscular approach to the character.

Bautista took over the role of Kratos after being officially cast in the position, and his physical preparation demonstrates the production’s attention to detail in bringing the beloved PlayStation character to life for a television audience.
