Johnny Depp Is Open to Playing Jack Sparrow Again in a New Pirates of the Caribbean Movie

Johnny Depp has expressed openness to reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a future Pirates of the Caribbean film, reversing his previous stance that he would never work with Disney on the franchise again.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Depp stated he would be willing to return to the role under the right circumstances. He indicated that his primary interest would be to conclude the franchise on a stronger note than its most recent installment, which was a critical and commercial disappointment.

Depp’s remarks suggest a potential reconciliation with Disney after years of tension between the actor and the studio. The star has been notably absent from the Pirates franchise following the 2017 film “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” which underperformed relative to earlier entries in the series.

The actor’s willingness to return appears conditional on the story being structured in a satisfying way for concluding the Sparrow character’s arc. He emphasized his admiration for producer Jerry Bruckheimer, stating he would work with him “tomorrow for anything,” indicating that creative partnership could facilitate his involvement.
