Soulframe to launch into free open beta this week, as Warframe devs go head-to-head with WoW: Forever

Soulframe, the fantasy action MMORPG from Warframe developers Digital Extremes, is launching its free open beta this week. Starting November 6th, players worldwide can download and access the game without an invite through its “Preludes” beta program, marking the end of three years of closed testing that featured sporadic access for invited players.

The timing positions Soulframe in a busy week for MMO enthusiasts. The game launches just two days after World of Warcraft: Forever and during the same week as Old School RuneScape’s new Hardcore worlds, creating significant competition in the MMO space. This convergence highlights the genre’s continued popularity and momentum among players seeking new gaming experiences.

The shift from closed to open beta represents a major milestone for the title, which has maintained a dedicated following through limited access periods. By removing invite requirements, Digital Extremes is opening Soulframe to a much broader audience ahead of the upcoming Verse of the Veilands update. The free-to-play model and open access signal the developers’ confidence in the game’s readiness for wider audience engagement, even as it faces competition from established MMO titles simultaneously launching new content or iterations.
