Thief Remastered’s new expansion is being made by the legendary Black Parade mod team, and it’s out next month

Nightdive Studios is remastering the classic stealth game Thief: The Dark Project, launching on PS5 on December 3, 2026, running at 4K and 120 frames per second using its KEX Engine. The remaster includes all original content from the 1998 game, the three bonus missions from Thief: Gold, and a new full campaign called Thief: The Tarnished Mirror.

The Tarnished Mirror expansion consists of four new missions designed as a bridge between Thief: The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age. Most significantly, the campaign is being developed by the team behind The Black Parade, a acclaimed 2023 community mod that was hailed as one of the most exciting things to happen to the Thief franchise in over two decades. The new missions will take advantage of modern technology to deliver more expansive and ambitious level design compared to the original ’90s games.

This represents a significant moment for gaming preservation and fan engagement, as Nightdive’s partnership with the legendary Black Parade modding team brings community creativity into an official capacity, ensuring the classic stealth franchise continues to evolve while remaining grounded in its legacy.
