Mass Effect Fans Are Trying to Make This N7 Day the Biggest One Ever

BioWare established November 7 as N7 Day in 2012 following the release of Mass Effect 3, inspired by the N7 military designation visible on Commander Shepard’s armor in the original game. For fourteen years, the date has marked the studio’s annual celebration of the beloved sci-fi franchise. This year, with news of BioWare’s closure, the community is taking the celebration into their own hands.

The fan organization We Are Mass Effect is coordinating a global play session for Saturday, November 7, from 2–5 p.m. ET (with equivalent times across other zones: 11 a.m.–2 p.m. PT, 7–10 p.m. GMT, and 8–11 p.m. CET). The initiative invites players across all platforms to simultaneously boot up any Mass Effect game, creating a synchronized worldwide moment for the community. The organizers frame it as a “critical assignment,” employing the game’s military terminology to rally fans.

The effort represents a shift in how N7 Day is celebrated—from an official studio-led event to a grassroots community endeavor. By coordinating global participation, fans aim to make this year’s celebration the largest in the franchise’s history, demonstrating the enduring connection between players and the Mass Effect universe even as the studio behind it faces closure.
