COD: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ patch has nerfed UAV Towers so you’re not immediately visible everywhere you go
The latest patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, deployed on November 2, introduces significant balance changes to the DMZ extraction mode. The update specifically targets UAV Towers, a controversial mechanic that had been generating widespread community complaints.
Previously, UAV Towers were guaranteed to spawn at every Point of Interest (POI) across the map, leading to excessive radar coverage that made portions of the Hajin map perpetually visible to players. The new patch randomizes UAV Tower spawning and reduces their overall spawn rate by 40 percent, substantially decreasing their frequency across different regions. The update also prevents multiple towers from appearing in the same area, with one exception: the Deadtown area retains its tower as it’s required for DMZ Order progression.
These changes represent Infinity Ward’s direct response to player feedback about “UAV tower spam,” which had become one of DMZ’s most frustrating balancing issues. The patch also includes spawn adjustments to the Shipment multiplayer map.
