Cosy Witch RPG ‘Witchbrook’ Will Support Crossplay Between Switch 1 & 2 At Launch

Chucklefish’s cozy witch RPG Witchbrook will launch on Nintendo Switch on January 28th with cross-generation crossplay enabled from day one. The feature will allow players on the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 to play together seamlessly at launch, as confirmed by the developer in the Witchbrook Discord community.

The announcement comes following a period of strong momentum for the indie title. Witchbrook’s Switch release date was first revealed during last month’s Indie World Showcase, marking a milestone for the long-anticipated game that has been in development for several years. The addition of crossplay functionality between the two console generations represents a significant technical achievement and demonstrates developer commitment to maintaining an accessible player base across Nintendo’s console ecosystem.

The cozy witch RPG genre has gained substantial popularity in recent years, and Witchbrook aims to capitalize on this interest with its magical school setting and community-focused gameplay. The cross-generation support ensures that the player community won’t be fragmented across hardware versions, a consideration that becomes increasingly important as the new hardware generation rolls out.
