WoW: Forever Won’t Get More Class Balance Changes Any Time Soon

World of Warcraft: Forever is launching with significant class balance changes based on feedback from its beta period. The headline change is a broad power increase: all classes across the board will deal more damage, representing a notable shift from Blizzard’s approach during beta testing.

During the beta, Blizzard had constrained class power, requiring every new ability or tool to come at the expense of existing ones. This resulted in some iconic abilities feeling underwhelming and limited design flexibility. For launch, Blizzard has decided to instead raise the overall damage ceiling across all classes, while increasing enemy health accordingly to maintain challenge balance.

The patch notes detail major class reworks for Paladin and Rogue, among dozens of other adjustments. The developer notes indicate that Blizzard aims to establish Forever’s own combat identity rather than simply replicating solutions from earlier World of Warcraft expansions like Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King.

However, not all players are satisfied with the changes. Shaman players have voiced particular criticism, feeling “completely ignored” by the latest adjustments, most notably the removal of Lava Burst for the Elemental specialization, which has been reoriented around lightning abilities instead.

Blizzard has indicated this will likely be the only major class tuning before launch. The patch notes also include controller support, expanding Forever’s platform accessibility at release.
