Hutch cofounder Shaun Rutland teases his new ‘interactive generative video’ studio Anorak
Shaun Rutland, co-founder of Hutch, has announced Anorak, a new entertainment studio focused on “interactive generative video” technology. Rather than positioning itself as a traditional games developer, Anorak describes itself as a “technology entertainment business” working to develop play patterns and platforms that make various pursuits “playable.”
The studio is currently in an R&D phase with team members distributed across London, Europe, and Chengdu, China, where Anorak also operates an AI research lab. David Amor, an experienced games industry veteran, serves as Chief Operating Officer. A funding announcement is imminent, with backing expected from venture capitalists and established mobile gaming companies.
Anorak’s emphasis on generative video and AI technology reflects growing industry interest in artificial intelligence applications for interactive entertainment, representing Rutland’s latest venture following his established track record in mobile games.
