GTA 6 Survey Reveals People Really Want GTA Online, But It Hasn’t Been Confirmed Yet

A survey by research firm Piper Sandler reveals a significant expectation gap regarding Grand Theft Auto 6’s online features. Polling 9,000 teenagers ahead of the game’s November 19 release, the study found that 90% of respondents plan to play GTA Online. However, Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed that GTA 6 will include any online multiplayer mode.

Currently, Rockstar is marketing GTA 6 strictly as a single-player experience. Product listings at major retailers explicitly describe the game as a “single-player experience,” indicating this is not a matter of marketing ambiguity but a deliberate positioning. While many industry observers expect GTA 6 will eventually receive online features given the massive success of GTA Online as a standalone service, Rockstar has made no official announcements about future online functionality for the new title.

The survey also found that 40% of respondents expressed interest in making additional purchases, though specifics were not detailed. The disconnect between consumer expectations for an online component and Rockstar’s current messaging suggests the company may be planning a staged release strategy, with online features potentially arriving after the initial single-player launch.
