Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn TTRPG Lays the Groundwork for His Next Series
Brotherwise Games is expanding its Cosmere RPG offerings with a new Mistborn tabletop role-playing game expansion. The project includes three core books—The Mistborn Handbook, Mistborn World Guide, and Mistborn Legacy campaign—covering both eras of Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series set on the planet Scadrial.
The expansion follows Brotherwise Games’ successful launch of The Stormlight Archive TTRPG books last year, which demonstrated strong interest in tabletop adaptations of Sanderson’s epic fantasy worlds. The new Mistborn books represent an ambitious scope, serving as both a complete ruleset for players and a foundation for Sanderson’s forthcoming trilogy in the Mistborn setting.
According to co-lead designer Meric Moir, the project faced significant scope challenges during development. About one-third of the way through, the team considered scaling back to cover only the first era. The final product’s expansion to include both eras reflects the publisher’s confidence in the commercial viability of Sanderson’s TTRPG adaptations and the Cosmere universe’s growing presence in the tabletop gaming space.
