Sonic the Hedgehog Shows Up in New Angry Birds 3 Trailer for Some Reason
Sonic has made a surprise cameo appearance in the trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, racing alongside Chuck, a yellow bird voiced by Josh Gad, through a forest setting.
This marks Sonic’s return to movie theaters outside of his own film franchise. The character has achieved significant box office success through three live-action films, collectively earning over $1.2 billion. While a fourth dedicated Sonic movie is planned for 2027, this cameo represents an unexpected cinema appearance before then.
The crossover appears to be a case of corporate synergy, as both franchises are now under Paramount’s umbrella. The Angry Birds Movie 3 marks the first film in the series to be produced by Paramount. The pairing makes thematic sense given that Sonic is traditionally portrayed as a hero who saves woodland creatures, positioning him naturally alongside the bird-based cast.
Josh Gad, known for voicing Frozen’s Olaf, provides Chuck’s voice in the film. The brief scene shows the characters running and smiling during unspecified adventures together, adding star power and cross-franchise appeal to the Angry Birds franchise’s continued cinematic expansion.
