Andy Weir’s New Sci-Fi Epic is ‘The Martian’ Meets ‘The Twilight Zone’

Sci-fi author Andy Weir brings his signature blend of survival storytelling and speculative science to Audible with Exoplanet, a full-cast audio thriller premiering November 5. The project, executive produced by Weir and written by Benjamin Percy, draws inspiration from Weir’s acclaimed novels The Martian and Project Hail Mary—both adapted into major films—while introducing a more surreal dimension reminiscent of The Twilight Zone.

The audio drama follows the crew of the starship Wild Blue Yonder, who face a mysterious phenomenon that scatters them across time on the same alien planet. Rather than experiencing a linear adventure, the crew members find themselves landing in different temporal periods of the world’s history, creating a complex puzzle of survival and discovery. The cast includes John Leguizamo as Science Officer Logan Bowers, who awakens injured and disoriented, forced to navigate an alien landscape while searching for his crewmates and answers.

Polygon had access to an exclusive audio clip from the production, offering listeners a glimpse into the surreal atmosphere Weir and Percy have crafted. The production combines Weir’s trademark focus on technical problem-solving and ingenuity under extreme pressure with Percy’s storytelling expertise, creating a unique audio experience that transcends typical sci-fi conventions.
