Fortnite Crew subscribers are no longer getting free skins or the OG Pass, will get more V-Bucks instead

Epic Games is restructuring its Fortnite Crew subscription service, replacing cosmetic rewards with increased V-Bucks payouts. Beginning in December, Crew subscribers will no longer receive free skins or access to the OG Pass, longtime perks of the membership. Instead, the company is offering more V-Bucks on a tiered system, with the amount depending on subscription length.

This change represents a significant shift in Fortnite’s monetization strategy, moving away from exclusive cosmetic rewards toward direct in-game currency benefits. By providing V-Bucks instead of specific skins, Epic Games gives subscribers the ability to purchase items directly from Fortnite’s item shop, potentially increasing satisfaction among players with distinct aesthetic preferences.

The decision may also reflect player feedback about cosmetic variety or allow the company to better manage cosmetic inventory within the Crew tier. This adjustment continues Epic Games’ ongoing evolution of Fortnite’s battle pass and subscription system as the game competes in the live-service market. The timing of the change in December positions it ahead of the holiday season, when cosmetic demand typically increases.
