Sensor Tower: GTA 6 pre-orders almost reach 8m, 74% bought on PlayStation 5
Grand Theft Auto 6 has achieved nearly eight million pre-orders ahead of its launch in two weeks, according to new data from Sensor Tower. The highly anticipated title has generated an estimated $751 million in gross revenue from pre-orders alone.
The PlayStation 5 edition dominates pre-orders, accounting for 74% of units sold and generating $559 million in revenue. Xbox Series X|S represents the remaining 26% of pre-orders, contributing $192 million in revenue.
The strong pre-order performance builds on momentum established when pre-orders opened in July. Analytics firm Newzoo reported that GTA 6 generated $260 million globally during its first week of pre-orders. Looking ahead, Newzoo projected that GTA 6’s release would drive a 17.5% increase in overall full game spending throughout the year.
The data underscores GTA 6’s position as one of the most anticipated releases in gaming, with PlayStation 5 showing notably stronger pre-order penetration than Xbox Series consoles among consumers purchasing the title before launch.
